Hats With a Mission In Mind
In the summer of 2011, I had traveled to South Africa on a service journey. Two weeks prior to leaving, 21 women and I had knitted 140 hats to bring with me for a group of children and families in a township in South Africa where we were working. As winter was just beginning there, the hats were graciously received by all. I invite you to make a wonderful hat for yourself, and perhaps make several for your favorite charity or shelter. Happy and Healthy knitting to All!
The pattern uses size 15, 16 inch circular and double pointed needles. I have used Lion Brand Thick and Quick or Reynold’s Blizzard. The pattern is written for one color but can be made in endless color combinations. The largest size takes about 100 yards. Gauge: 8.5 stitches = 4 inches.
