Hattie the Unicorn
Hattie is a pretty little unicorn that one day dreams to be a ballerina. From her long, flowing locks to her eyelashes, she is sure to be a star!
Hattie is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in English using US (American) terminology. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.
Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item. My Hattie is approx. 15cm tall (6 inches).
You will receive one PDF file which requires software like Adobe Reader to open (this is free to download).
You will need:
- 2.5mm hook/C-2 (US)
- 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted, 50g CREAM and PURPLE, 25g in PINK, BLUSH, MUSTARD and BLUE
- BLACK 4ply yarn or embroidery thread
- A pair of 8mm safety eyes
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Polyester toy stuffing
- Stitch marker (optional)
Notes:
- Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
- When changing colour, pull through the new colour on the stitch before you need it. This will ensure that you have the correct colour yarn on the hook for the upcoming stitch.
- Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
- Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item.
- I’ve used the following yarns: o CREAM = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 002 Cream o PURPLE = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 072 Lavender o PINK = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 008 Rose o BLUSH = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 009 Coral o MUSTARD = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 064 Mustard o BLUE = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 037 Ice Green
- I have used plastic safety eyes but you may choose to embroider the eyes. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
