Haunting Hollow Shawl
This pattern is also available on my Ko-fi page if you would like to help support the making of more free patterns.
This triangle shawl is knit with a garter tab cast on and increases are worked every other row. Fingering weight yarn is held double to allow for a mixed colour transition flowing into a section of knot stitches and then a thick garter band before being cast off.
For this pattern you will need:
- Fingering weight wool For the orange and black sample shown, I used approx 330m of C1 (Half Baked Hand Dyed Aussie Sock Yarn in Riding High) and 620 m of C2 (Half Baked Hand Dyed Aussie Sock Yarn in Between Midnight and Dawn)
- 5mm 40” circular needle
- 4 stitch markers (you can findsuitably themed d20 dice set ones in my etsy shop I Cast Mending) Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
The pattern is written as a small to medium size shawl but it’s very easy to make it bigger by either increasing the stockinette section (this might throw off the knot stitch section though so I wouldn’t adjust it unless you are confident about rejigging that section) or you can use a heavier weight yarn held double and adjust your needle size accordingly.
The shawl measures 143 cm along the eyelet edge and 70cm from the garter tab to the bottom point after blocking.
I have a video with tips and tricks to help knit this and other shawls that you can find here
