Havana Sweater
HAVANA SWEATER
It’s no secret that I am a huge lover of anything brioche because of the squishy, soft texture the brioche technique supplies. For a long time I wanted to make an updated version of my Arizona Sweater, which has the most beautiful saddle shoulders and different knitting techniques. The result is the Havana Sweater, named after the beautiful, bedazzling capital of Cuba, where sweaters are rarely needed :slightly_smiling_face:
The Havana Sweater is knit as a seamless, top down sweater, starting with a short neck ribbing followed by saddle shoulders with increases on each side in order to give the body width. Later the brioche sleeve sts are added. The sleeves have a small puff, giving you soft, voluminous sleeves. The body is knit in the gorgeous honeycomb brioche technique, which gives stretch and added width to the body. The front sts are knit as stockinette shaped as an illusion V-neck. Both body and sleeves are finished with ribbing edges and Italian bind off. The length can easily be adjusted to your preferences. The techniques used make this sweater suitable for intermediate or advanced knitters, I do not recommend it for beginners.
I have used a combination of 1 string of 1 ply kidmohair and 2 strings of silk mohair on 6 mm needles for the majority of the work. The edges are decorated with 2 string of shimmery yarn. You can of course choose any yarn base you like, that gives you the same gauge.
I hope you enjoy your #havanasweater as much
as I have enjoyed designing it!
Happy knitting!

SIZES
The pattern comes in 7 different sizes; from XS to 3XL. The chest circumference is:
XS - 86 cm
S - 97 cm
M - 103 cm
L - 110 cm
XL - 117 cm
2XL - 123 cm
3XL - 130 cm
The length of body and sleeves can easily be adjusted along the way.
Due to the puff sleeves and the saddle shoulders I recommend you choose a sweater with no or very little ease. The brioche and honeycomb brioche are very stretchy and add plenty of width to the finished garment.
GAUGE
I have knit this sweater with 6 mm needles (US 10). The sweater has the following gauge:
Honeycomb brioche: 12 sts/17 rows
Brioche: 14 sts/17 rows
MATERIALS
I have used the following amount of yarn for each size (Mohair by Canard 1 ply/By Emra Silkmohair):

M - 200 g/200-250 g
L - 200g/250 g
XL - 250 g/300 g
2XL - 300 g/350 g
3XL - 350 g/400 g
For all sizes I have used less than 25 g of shimmery Filcolana Paia (245 m/25 g).
