> Have a Cocoa Mittens
Have a Cocoa Mittens
These mittens were designed in collaboration with my daughter, Kate. She came up with the design and sketched it for me.
Playing outside in the snow is fun, but it is even better if you have a mug of hot cocoa waiting for you inside!
Have a Cocoa mittens are designed for thicker yarns (sport or DK) to keep your hands warm while you are out playing or working; and the mug of cocoa with melting marshmallows that the mittens feature is to give you a warm and cozy feeling of happiness and love.
Choose between the mug with a snowflake or the mug with a heart. Or mix and match, if you like.
The sample mittens and pictures are by Marit, Mitt and Heli, Heli-keiju. THANK YOU!!!
Materials
• US 2 ½ (3mm) set of dpns or circular needles for Magic loop method
• Du Store Alpakka Sterk (DK) 150 yards / 50 grams: approx. 220-225 yards/72-75g total:
BC – 38 g, CC1 – 30 g, CC2 – 4 g
• Tapestry needle

Notes
1. Size: The mittens are 56 stitches in the hand part and 73 rounds long (without ribbing). For adult size mittens use sport (for small) or DK for medium/large.
2. Stranded colorwork: Follow the charts from right to left. Make sure to catch longer floats using preferred method.
3. Use duplicate stitch technique and CC2 for the cocoa and steam above the cup.
4. The CC2 on the zigzag pattern can either be added by duplicate stitch, or knit as you go, in which case you will have a couple of rounds with three colors in the row. Alternatively, you can use Background color instead of Contrast color 2 for this sections, if you like.
