YARN, GAUGE, SIZE AND MACHINE  Red Heart Super Saver was used for the sample. 1  skein of main color and 1 skein of contrast color required for small and medium, large may require 2 of  main color. 16 stitches and 24 rows to 4” at stitch  size 5-7 in stockinette. Mid-gauge machines can knit  to this gauge and should use this version of the design but may find Super Saver rather stiff to knit. I  recommend using a softer #4 yarn such as Mary  Maxim Starlette or Deborah Norville Everyday Wor-  sted on mid-gauges. Theyll like it better. Standard  gauge machines and Passaps use one of the many ma-  chine knitting yarns that achieves 7 stitches/10  rows/inch. Bulky instructions are listed first. Numbers for standard are in brackets like these ( ).  Ideally, use a machine with automatic pattern capability but the little bit of fairisle may be hand selected or duplicate stitches by others. The standard  gauge version has a second stripe above the hearts.  Even those who plan to duplicate stitch the hearts  will want to knit the stripes in with the machine
