Hawthorne
by Tanis Gray
Growing up in southeastern Massachusetts on the cold Atlantic, we read many local author works throughout my primary education. One of the authors that always stuck with me was Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804-1864).
While swatching and fussing around with this stitch, someone said to me it looked like butterflies, bringing to mind a quote stashed away in my brain from Hawthorne himself, “Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.”
