Haylie’s Hug
A Cowl Designed in Memory of Haylie Strong Jackson
Little Haylie’s battle began in August 2013 when she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma bone cancer. She lost that battle in August 2014. She was only 9 years old, our next door neighbor and our friend. I decided to design this cowl with her memory in mind, and to help raise awareness of childhood cancer. A percentage of all sales will be donated to finding a cure. A piece of us is gone, but Haylie will always be dearly loved and will never be forgotten.
I used one skein of yarn from “Awesome Acres Pacas & Pyrs”, Oklahoma’s finest Suris. (200 yards/skein) You can find them online at http://www.pacasnpyrs.com/
This 100% Suri alpaca yarn is undyed white. All of their yarns are natural colors and most are 100% Suri alpaca, or alpaca
blended with silk. They also now have darker colors (fawn, brown, black, and grey). I recommend using their yarn for
this project. It’s like having a little piece of heaven around your neck, aka Haylie’s Hug!
