Hazel Dormouse
This pattern is for a hazel dormouse, written in US crochet terminology. This is an advanced beginner to intermediate pattern. There are no complicated stitches but the short rows used in the shaping of the body mean it may be difficult for a beginner in amigurumi. You can use any yarn type you like as long as you use the same throughout and use a suitable hook. You will need tan, fawn or beige for the body, white or cream for the tummy patch, pink for the nose and feet and a little black for embroidering the eyes. The sample was made using Stylecraft Special DK in camel, cream and candyfloss with a little black for the eyes. I also used a 3.25mm hook. You will need a wire brush for the tail, stuffing and a yarn needle and a row marker (I use a yarn scrap). This project takes about 3-4 hours to complete.
