Hazelnut Cable Hat
This hat was inspired by the poet Rumi, and it aims to centralize the idea of rebirth or renewal. Of finding peace in times of sorrow, along with the strength to seek and fan the fire that lives within us all.

It shakes the yellow leaves from the bough of your heart, so that fresh, green leaves can grow in their place. It pulls up the rotten roots, so that new roots hidden beneath have room to grow. The Hazelnut Cabled hat is a companion piece to the Hazelnut scarf and is a cable hat with decorative stitches, that resemble hazelnuts. It was designed to used less than 100g and is worked in worsted weight yarn.
Materials:
• One 4mm / US size 6 circular needle, 100cm / 40” in length, or size needed to meet the required gauge.
• Stitch markers 5 (6) optional.
• Tapestry needle for sewing in threads.
• Blocking materials.
• Worsted weight yarn, 1 skein of Malabrigo Rios will be suitable for both sizes as written, if a length hat is desired, more yarn may be required - 100% merino wool, 192m / 210yds per 100g, the sample shown in size 1 using chart 2 in colourway Gemini.
• Optional: Pom pom.
Gauge:
24 stitches and 30 rows = 10cm / 4” in textured pattern, worked in the round and blocked.
Size:
Two sizes 1 (2) – 42cm (50cm) / 16.5” (19”) in circumference, measured flat – to fit small adult (large adult). The hat is 19.5cm (21.5cm) / 7.5” (8.5”) in height using charts as given. Intended to be worn with 7.5cm – 12.5cm / 3” – 5” negative ease.
