For experienced knitters who like texture & are good chart readers. Advanced techniques include: Double picot cuff, regular & reverse grafting & open/closed (aka ‘knotwork’) cables.

If you are working on the He ‘mo Leanan kilt hose out of the Knitting Socks from Around the World book- they left out the 1<5 increase for the cable base on page 68, in the special techniques side bar in the 1st edition- a small but very important omission, so just scroll down to the re-print of page 68 at the errata link above if this applies to you-

I designed these for my husband, then used the design to teach a class on knitting kilt hose- (I used modified versions of my Teampall Breachain Hat knotwork charts for part of this design). They are heavily textured and very masculine, but I closed the knotwork at the front ankle bend & the cables at the heel so they would feel smooth and not wear on his ghillies.

The name for this pattern is the title of one of my favourite Orain Luadh (Waulking Songs) it means: ‘Hey my love!’. This pattern is available in the above mentioned book & as a stand-alone pdf from the Wildwest Woolies website.
