Two Felted Hat Patterns
Two different, one knit from the bottom up, the other knitted from the top down. These patterns are “general” because felting is not an exact science. For the knitter new to felting, these patterns provide a guide, but let your imagination run wild—use intarsia designs, stripes, or fair isle designs. Sew on beads, if you like, or embroider.

The kind of yarn you choose must be able to felt. I like Lambs Pride, but I have also used hand spun yarn that has a tendency to felt. Another yarn you might like is Cascade 220. Whatever yarn you choose, though, make sure it is not a washable wool! That kind of yarn is treated not to felt!
