Healing Hat
It is my hope that this beautiful hat will help to heal the heart and mind of every woman who wears it. Being a cancer survivor myself I desperately needed an inexpensive dressy hat for church, but didn’t want to pay an outrageous price. Crochet stitches used were Chain, Single, Half Double, and Double crochet. The Front Post Double Crochet stitch was also used. It is important to “set” the dye so that the hat doesn’t fade before washing with detergent. Instructions can be found here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcZteQyEooo. I actually used the method in the video except I soaked and rinsed the hat in the washing machine. A mannequin head is especially helpful for drying. Cover it with waxed paper, then lay the hat over it. The hat measures 22 1/2” around not counting the brim. If the hat is too snug, it can be easily stretched by hand. BE AWARE that Lily Sugar ‘n Cream is not a soft yarn and might irritate the skin of some cancer patients. I recommend using I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby or similar yarn. An H hook is needed since the stitches are slightly smaller.
