Heappster Hat
The inspiration for this hat came from a recent finished project, where I held one strand of soft-as-cloud baby alpaca yarn double with sparingly-sparkly merino wool. The result of that sweater was heavenly light and airy yet warm and cozy, which also works very nicely for a hat.
Techniques Used
Decreases and increases: k2tog, ssk, yo
Yarns used
One strand of lace weight alpaca/silk blend held double with one strand of sport weight merino wool
Yardage (approx)
Size 1: 119 y 109 m 13 g of alpaca/silk blend + 128 y 117 m 32 g of merino wool
Size 2: 147 y 135 m 16 g of alpaca/silk blend + 156 y 143 m 39 g of merino wool
Gauge
1 lace motif (17 sts and 8 rounds) measures 2.85 in 7.25 cm wide and 1.25 in 3 cm long
Finished Measurements (after blocking)
Circumference: 17.25 (19.75) in 43.75 (50) cm
Height: 9.5 in 24 cm
NOTE: My head measures 23.5” and the smaller size fits me gently snugged using the yarn combo for this pattern. The hat might fit differently if you use another yarn base(s) that may give it more/less stretch.
This pattern has been tech edited and test knitted.
