After first row of boxes and 6 rows of garter stitch are completed, you will be on the wrong side of your work. That means that all knit stitches will become purl stitches and all purl stitches will be knit stitches. After second row of boxes, you will go back to the original pattern.

After the second row of boxes is complete you will be on the right side of the woark again. Therefore all odd rows of boxes will be in original pattern and all even rows of boxes will be done as in the second paragraph above.**
