Description:

You will want to either split a skein into thirds or purchase three separate skeins to do this project. The stitches you will need to know are, YO, SSK for eyelets. The crochet hook is a substitute for a darning needle since yarns held together is too thick. You don’t need to know how to crochet to do this project. I barely know how to chain stitch if it helps you feel at ease. I’m still learning to crochet so no pressure seriously! We will just be weaving tails with it. You will only need one smaller knitting needle to help with transfering and keeping right (public) and wrong sides from mixing. This project is hard on the joints and hands please be sure to take plenty of breaks. Also Please read disclaimer.

Disclaimer:

I advise that you use worn out old needles for this project. Essentially ones you don’t feel bad about wrecking. Do not use new needles. As this project is really hard on the patina. Your nice needles will be hashed by the time you are done. Don’t say you weren’t warned! I found this out the hard way.

Tools and Materials:

US Size 9, 5.5mm Knitting Needles
One Spare Knitting Needle Size 8
Optional US I9 Crochet Hook (Acts As A Replacement For Darning Needle)
1 or 3 Skein(s) Worsted Cotton Yarn

Gauge:

For me 3 and ⅔ stitches by 4 rows equals a square inch. Gauge isn’t really necessary for this project though.

Estimated Yardage:

95 - 120 Yards for one hotpad
