Variations:

Work just the top up to the joining and edging to place on top of an existing heart box for decoration
Work just the top up through the joining and edging (working only in the top piece only) to place on top of an existing heart box for decoration
Work just the top up through the joining and edging (working only in the top piece only) and through the second edging to place on top of an existing heart box for decoration
Work both the top and bottom pieces through first edging and joining to place an existing heart box inside, or Valentine’s cards, or other gift
Work both the top and bottom pieces through both edgings to place an existing heart box inside, or Valentine’s cards, or other gift
Work the front and back hearts for a pouch
Work the front for both the front and back for a pouch
Work the back for both the front and pack for a pouch
Add straps (your own pattern instructions) and make a heart purse. Be sure to line it if you want something more durable and supportive for carrying small items
