Heart of the Mesa Mittens
These mittens were inspired by the beautiful woven designs of the Navajo and the amazing petroglyphs of the Anasazi in Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly National Monument.
Pattern includes full chart as well as a supplemental chart you may download with colors switched to aid in working color motifs opposite of those shown in the pattern.
Size: Mittens are sized to fit an average to large sized woman’s hand (7.5 inches around hand above thumb). Size up or down by adjusting needle size and gauge. When flat, finished mitten measures 10” from tip of fingers to bottom of cuff & 3.5” across palm.
Yarn: 150 yards for Main Color and 175 yards for Contrast Color
Skills Required: Small diameter circular knitting, increases and decreases, stranded colorwork, and the ability to read from a chart. A general knowledge of stranding techniques like color dominance and managing floats are essential.
