Heart to Heart Blanket
This simple blanket is knit back and forth on circular needles. The body of the blanket follows a 2-color chart, and the border is created at the same time by working the first and last 6 stitches of each row in seed stitch.
Finished size: Approximately 21” x 21”
Yarn: Main color is Treasure Goddess Yarns Worsted Weight in Copper Cove, 1.5 skeins (appx 300 yards total). Accent color is Madeline Tosh Vintage in Horn, 1 skein (appx 200 yards).
Gauge: 26 stitches x 34 rows = 4” square in stockinette. Gauge does not need to be exact, but keep in mind that your blanket may be larger or smaller depending on your actual gauge.
Notions:
Size 4 24” circular needles
Needle for sewing in ends
Note on sizing: If you decide to make a larger size, you may need longer circular needles.
Notes on color work: When you do the body of the blanket, you’ll need to “carry” or wrap the non-working yarn along the backside of the work. There are many ways to do this, choose whichever is more comfortable for you. I do recommend wrapping the yarn every 2-3 stitches to prevent long floats.
You may also want to wrap the yarn occasionally where the contrast color meets the border. Depending on how you knit and carry your yarn, there may be tiny gaps in these sections, so wrapping the yarn on knit rows will help close these. They’re not large, though, so you can use your own discretion here.
When following the color chart, keep in mind that your odd numbered rows will be worked with the right side facing, and the even numbered rows will be worked with the wrong side facing. This means that row 1 on the chart will be worked right to left, but row 2 will be worked left to right, and so on throughout the piece.
Happy Knitting!
