Heartbricks
Introduction to the pattern.
I am so happy to be mentioned in the Fruityknitting podcast episode 78 and the technique used in this pattern is part of their tutorial.
A reversible hat, a hat with construction described both in text and chart. You cast on with two needles held parallel.
Construction stitches makes the hem fold nicely.
If you are familiar to fair isle or colour work, you probably know the basic of the technique. I want to introduce you to a technique which makes the contrast colour float nicely in the back and I will describe it carefully in pattern.
I use the technique when I knit the only lonely heart on back side of hem.
The only lonely heart is optional to knit.
Follow chart for colour work (there is no written instruction for the colour work).
If you sew in ends carefully, the hat is reversible. That is why I added this lonely heart on inside of hem. So you can wear it with many hearts on brim or one heart on outside brim. The bricks in body is a bit different in structure from each side.
I used nearly 2 balls for the body and ca 30 grams for colour work
The size is adjustable by adding/diverse stitches between hearts in chart and by adding/diverse stitches in body
2 needles for cast on
shift to larger for body
stitch marker
needle for sewing in ends
Hope you like it!
Happy knitting!
