Hearth
When imagining this piece I was reminded of the stone brickwork and ornate mantles of the manor hearth. I wanted a shawl that could serve as both a functional piece but at the same time have the feeling of a blanket that you would use when snuggling up in front of the fire.
Hearth is a triangle shaped shawl that consists of a simple cable body with a garter and seed stitch border.
Yarn: 894- 900 yds Worsted Weigh (this includes tassels)
Knit Picks Comfy Worsted Weight in color Hawk was used in sample (9 skeins total). This is a cotton weight yarn so it is much lighter. If you plan to use a heavier weight yarn I would suggest going up a needle size.
Gauge: 10 sts and 12 rows = 2 inches in cable pattern.
Notions: Stitch Markers, Cable Needle, Tapestry Needle
Finished Measurements: 88” wingspan, 37.5” down center spine. Measurements taken after blocking.
Pattern is for intermediate knitters because it involves cable knitting. However, this pattern is also a good introduction for those who are not familiar with cable knitting but would like to learn.
