This is a stranded design worked in two colors of worsted weight yarn, and two variations are given. Variation one is topped with an optional pompom and features a solid colored gathered-look top, while the square version is completely patterned and features pointy “ears.”

Valley Yarns Northampton is sold in 100 gram skeins. You will use approximately half a skein of each color to make one hat. If you are using 50 gram balls of worsted yarn, you may want 2 for the main color to make sure you have enough.
