Heather
On Dartmoor the low, tough stems of the heather flower during August and September, turning swathes of moorland a dream-like hazy purple. This pattern is inspired by the heather’s incredible colour and the shape of its delicate flowers just before they open.
The heather season is the one time of year when the open moor softens, in appearance at least: even on sunny days the wind can blow strong and cold. These legwarmers are for rambles on those chilly days.
Yarn:
Jamiesons of Shetland ‘Raspberry’ (1260) is perfect as the main colour- it contains all the shades of heather flowers without being garish. Its silvery-grey flecks really compliment the tones of contrast colour ‘Mooskit’ (106).
Technique & Materials:
These legwarmers are knitted in the round, bottom up on 2.75mm DPNs. They have a slight increase towards the top to accommodate the pattern and the natural increase of your calf.
Sizes:
The pattern is available in four widths: S: 13cm, M: 14.5cm, L: 15.5cm, XL: 17cm. The height of all sizes is 22.5cm.
Tension:
Tension is 25 stitches x 36 rows over the stocking stitch, 28 stitches x 28 rows over the pattern.
