Overview:
You will work this hat from the top down. You will first
shape the crown shaping increases, then work the body even, and then work the brim with increases and
applied I-cord edge finishing. To add structure to the
hat, you will add a lining strip on the inside of the hat’s
body for reinforcement and millinery wire through the
I-Cord edging of the brim.
Finished Measurements:
18½ (19½, 20¼)” / 47 (49.5, 51.5) cm of head
circumference, to be worn with 2-4” / 5 -10 cm of
negative ease
The sample is Size M, shown with 2.5” / 6.5 cm of
negative ease
Yarn:
Sport weight cotton yarn, approximately 330 yards /
300 meters per 100 grams
Yardage: 295 (315, 320) yards / 270 (288, 293) meters
Gauge:
26 sts x 36 rounds in stockinette = 4” /
10 cm after blocking
Needles:
A set of DPNs and 16” circular needle in size necessary
to obtain gauge (suggested size: US 3 / 3.25 mm)
