Hebby is a top-down triangle shawl with a low-contrast cable spine and complementary lace panels. This super wearable shawl creates beautiful textures using simple combinations of stitches.

Originally designed for handspun yarn, Hebby works for yarns ranging from 4ply to DK weight. Use a lighter yarn for a shawl with more drape, and a thicker yarn to create a denser, warmer fabric - perfect for tucking under the front of your winter coat.

Hebby uses just 400m of yarn - meaning that if you choose to work it with a 4ply yarn, it’s a one skein wonder, great for using up those special skeins.

With large stocking stitch panels, and an easy to memorise lace pattern, Hebby makes for a lovely relaxing knit.

Key information
Hebby follows a classic top-down construction, beginning with a garter tab cast-on. The top edge of the shawl features a garter stitch border, with increases worked at the start and end of each RS row, and each side of the central cable column.

Yarn:
Hebby shawl is designed at a gauge that works with any yarn from a 4ply to a DK weight.

The purple sample uses 2 skeins of John Arbon Yarnadelic sport/heavy 4ply (100% Corriedale wool, 333m to 100g) for a shawl with good warmth and drape.

The teal sample uses handspun yarn from a John Arbon Yarnadelic top, which ranges from a sport to a DK weight. This has produced a slightly thicker shawl, with less drape.

The shawl requires around 400m (438yds) of yarn.

Gauge:
The gauge of the finished shawl depends on how aggressively you block your gauge finished shawl. For reference, the purple sample has a gauge of 22st and 28 rows measured over stocking stitch.

Although gauge isn’t vital as the shawl doesn’t need to fit particular measurements, if your gauge varies significantly from that given then you will need more or less yarn.
