Hedelyng is a small shawl or scarf with a simple, yet effective pattern.

Hedelyng means heather in Danish, and as the heather the pattern on the shawl is built from many small repeats, which gives a wonderful overall effect, more than the individual plant or pattern itself.

The shawl is knit sideways from one tip to the other, first increasing until the full width has been reached, and then decreasing toward the other tip. You work the edging simultaneous with the body of the shawl.

Final measurements: 215 cm from tip to tip, and 35 cm at the widest point.

The sample shawls are worked in Lamora from Lanecardate (dark green) and Jo Sharp Silkroad DK (rose).
