Hedgehog
This listing is an original pattern in English to knit with knitting needles your own cute tiny hedgehog toy!
These 12 pages tiny hedgehog pattern includes detailed instructions with plenty of photo references to instruct you on how to knit.
Together with this knitting pattern you will receive separate 9 pages file where all abbreviations are brought together with all the methods of knitting with their detailed description. It also contains the links on video-lessons.
Created by me.
This pattern is suitable for those with intermediate knitting skills and have knowledge of short rows, left and right leaning increases and decreases and etc., basic sewing and embroidery techniques. All the abbreviations are described in details in a separate file.
The size of the finished toy on picture – approx. 13 cm. If you use different thickness of the thread and the size of the knitting needles the size of the finished work may be different.
Materials and tools:
• Knitting needles 2mm in diameter (with a short cable or set of double pointed
needles). I knit using needles with a cable, and for knitting the skin with needles I use
two straight needles. At the beginning of knitting the upper paws I also use knitting
needles with a short cable, but I-cord I knit on straight needles.
• Knitting yarn: for skin with needles - Nako Paris or any similar yarn with small soft
pile. Choose the color at your discretion.
For the body: smooth yarn or yarn with light hairiness of suitable thickness (I knit in 2
threads, in total they give about 250-300 m per 100 g in thickness).
For both the body and the skin, select the yarn so that the knitting with the indicated
size of the knitting needles turns out to be quite dense, and the color scheme of your
hedgehogs can be very different.
• To embroider the nose and eyebrows, you will need a small piece of dark and a needle
with a suitable eye.
• Toy stuffing.
• Two small black beads for the eyes. To sew them on, I use transparent monofilament
and a needle with a suitable eye.
• To set up, you need a needle with an eye through which the knitting thread will pass
(for example, a tapestry needle).
• For sewing on a hedgehog skin, I use monofilament. You can use matching bobbin
thread and a needle with a matching eye.
• Dry pastel and tinting brush.
• A solution of acrylic varnish or PVA glue for fixing tinting and decorating needles.
• Combing tool: velcro, brush or slicker.
• Auxiliary – a pair of safety pins or thick thread to remove the stitches.
