Hedgehog Hat
I am most fond of the little hedgehog. Often thought of as a mascot for lace makers because of the many “pins” on the hedgehog’s back, I like them because they are small and cute. I chose a rotund tummied hedgehog for this hat and hope you’ll enjoy knitting and wearing the hat as much as I enjoyed designing and knitting it to share with you!
This pattern is meant for adventurous novice knitters to experienced knitters and all those in-between.
Please read the entire pattern before beginning.
Yarn: 2 skeins Universal Yarn Deluxe Worsted Superwash, 220 yards, 100% Superwash Wool, 727 chocolate & 730 steel cut oats
Needle: US 6 (4.0 mm) Hiya Hiya Circular needles or needles to obtain gauge
Gauge: 5.45 stitches per inch (spi) and 7 rows per inch (rpi) OR 22 stitches & 28 rows to 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette
Size: 18, (20, 22) inches around
To alter the size: Adjust your gauge to increase or decrease the circumference of the hat as needed.
Notions: 12 black seed beads, black sewing thread, and a sewing needle
NOTE: some copies of the pattern may mention size 10 needles in the gauge section. This is an error. The pattern was knit on US 6 needles.
