This past Spring I had the priviledge to teach at “Knitting in Tuscany” for Susan Wolcott, owner of Yarnability in Shepardstown, West Virginia. The Hegg Braid Scarf was created after a suggestion from one of the participants in this wonderful adventure. The Hegg Braid motif is created by working increases and decreases in one-color brioche.

I used 5 balls of Rowan Pure Wool DK. For an interesting variation, try working the pattern with a yarn such as Rowan Kid Silk Haze worked on US7/4.5mm needles and wet blocking it to spread out the stitches.

I would suggest using a plain medium-valued color yarn so that the braid really shows up well.
