Heidrun, in Norse mythology, was the name of a goat who would eat the leaves from the tree of life and then produce mead in her udder.

Heidrun is an easy little pattern; just enough in the border to keep you interested and working but lots of garter stitch to allow for knitting in the company of friends and family without risk of mistakes creeping in.

Because Heidrun is knit side to side by proportion of the weight of yarn you have available, you can knit it at any gauge in any yarn you see fit.

This pattern gives the quantities and gauge recommended for fingering (4ply) weight yarn only but don’t let that limit you. A single skein of lace-weight will give you a beautifully airy, delicate shawl. Multiple skeins of DK will give you a snuggly winter-weight wrap. The finished size of the object is dependent on your gauge.

With 100g of the specified yarn this pattern makes a shawlette/scarf-sized object, it will block larger than it appears when knitting.
