A beautiful heirloom quality blanket suitable for a christening, baby dedication, or special gift for that special baby. The kind of blanket that will be saved back with the baby book, clippings from the first haircut and the first baby shoes! Lacy and ethereal and perfect for your precious little one - boy or girl!

This pattern is written specifically for a Brother standard gauge punchcard knitting machine with a lace carriage. If you have a Brother electronic standard gauge knitting machine or standard gauge Studio/Silver Read knitting machine with lace capabilities and you know how to adapt the pattern to the specifics of lace making on your machine, then you could convert the pattern and use it on those too.

The pattern includes diagrams for 2 punchcards that will need to be punched by the user. You will need 3 blank punchcards (one of the punchcards is long and will need two punchcards) or a roll of punchcard material and a handy punch to punch the designs.

Any 2-ply, lace weight or light fingering weight yarn is suitable for the blanket. I listed some suggestions. You will need between 2000 and 3000 yards depending on the tension that you choose.

If you are new to your lace carriage I walk you through everything step-by-step with plenty of photos and in-depth instructions. I tell you every setting on your machine and each pass of your carriage. Included is a lengthy list of tips and helps to get you through the whole project: what to do if you drop a stitch, how to put in and use life lines, how much weight to use, etc. You can do this!
