I have been fascinated by volcanos and volcanic eruptions since I can remember. My middle name is Hekla because Mount Hekla erupted when I was born, in April 1981.

This volcano doll was inspired from a real life volcanic eruption on Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland. It started in March 2021 and was still ongoing when this pattern was ready. It is a scenic eruption, not long from Reykjavík, the capital, and the international airport. It is often referred to as „A little, cute eruption“ so I decided to make „A little, cute erupting Volcano“.

This pattern is written using US Terminology.
The Volcano is made with amigurumi techniques, that is „Crochet in spiral rounds“. When you crochet in spiral rounds you do not turn or join the round. Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round. (Using a different coloured yarn for stitch markers works great, just place it into the first stitch of every row/round as you go.)

Measurements:
Using the stated hook size and yarn, your doll will turn out about 26 cm from the top of the lava flames to the bottom of the feet. The volcano alone is about 7 cm.

• Yarn: Scheepjes Catona, mercerised cotton yarn, 5 colours:
- Dark grey, a little over a full skein of yarn.
- A little bit of orange, red and white and a tiny bit of black.
• Crochet hook size 3 mm
• Soft stuffing

• Black safety eyes, 12 mm.
