This crescent shaped shawl with alternating garter ridges and lace sections takes its inspiration from the Zebra Longwing Butterfly, aka Zebra Heliconian or Heliconius Charithonia. It is a medium sized butterfly, characterized by distinctive, bold black and white stripes on its elongated wings. Found through parts of the Southern US, (from Arizona through Texas to Florida, and Mexico to Ecuador) it inhabits woodland clearings and moist wood edges.
Using a special, OOAK “Zebra striped” yarn from my stash, I brought this design inspiration to life.

Materials:
Yarn: Fingering weight yarn, (100%wool) 437 yds (400m)/100g - 2 skeins (contrasting, complimentary or same) pattern written for 2 colors.
Sample: one of a kind special; unavailable for purchase - any fingering weight yarn with wool for structure will work.
