Heligan Shawl
Created for Hobbii Yarn’s In Bloom Challenge this spring, 2024, it was time for me to move out of my comfort zone in all respects. The theme was pastels with a pop of colour so I chose one of their cotton 4ply yarn packs and set to working out what to make. The hexagons came first, using three colours in each followed by the arrangement and the wave. It is named after the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall. Created by the Tremayne family from the mid-18th century, they have lots of different design styles throughout. Neglected at the beginning of the 20th century, they were restored in the 1990’s, hence the Lost Gardens.
