Presentation:

This design is my participation to Sweet Potato 3’s 2020 Cancer challenge. For more info about the Cancer Challenge, click here. The cancer I chose to represent is the Thyroid Cancer. Unfortunately, my sister (on the pictures) had to have her Thyroid removed because of a cancer. As of today, we still don’t know if it’s completely gone or not. So this design is definitely sweet and sour for the both us, for the whole family. This pattern is using US terms.

What does this pattern contain:

• The written instructions to complete your own Helix hat
• A grid for the motif section (right and left handed)
• A photo tutorial to learn how to change colours (right and left handed)

What are the sizes included:

• One size for teen or adult (fits head of 21 to 23 inches of circumference) 53 to 58,5 cm

What is the difficulty level of this pattern:

• Intermediate. There are no complicated stitch, but the tapestry crochet technique can be intimidating. While everything is explained thoroughly, I don’t recommend this to a beginner (if you are a beginner but would like to try tapestry, I suggest my Midnight hat, available here on Ravelry!) However if you are not a beginner crocheter but a beginner tapestrer, this can be done with a bit of patience!

For this pattern, you will need to know:

• how to chain
• how to make a single crochet
• how to make a half double crochet
• how to make a double crochet
• how to foundation double crochet (alternative included in the pattern)
• how to make a front post and a back post double crochet
• how to work in the round
• how to decrease
• how to complete a colour change (explained in the pattern)
• how to carry your yarn

Ce design est ma participation au Cancer Challenge 2020 de Sweet Potato 3. Le cancer que j’ai choisi de représenter cette année est le cancer de la glande Thyroide. Malheureusement, ma soeur (sur les photos) a dut se faire retirer sa glande thyroide à cause d’un cancer. En date d’aujourd’hui, nous ne savons toujours pas si tout est parti ou pas. Alors ce design est définitivement aigre-doux pour chacune d’entre nous, pour toute la famille en fait. Quelles sont les tailles incluses:

• Taille unique pour ado ou adulte (pour les têtes de 21 à 23 pouces de circonférence) 53 à 58,5 cm

Quel est le niveau de difficulté de ce patron:

• Intermédiaire. Même s’il n’y a pas de mailles compliquées, la technique du crochet tapisserie peut être intimidante. Et même si tout est très bien expliqué, je ne recommande pas ce modèle à un débutant (si vous êtes un débutant et vous voudriez essayer cette technique, je suggère d’essayer mon modèle de tuque Midnight, disponible ici sur Ravelry!) Cela dit, si vous n’êtes pas un débutant au crochet mais un débutant au tapisserie, ça peut être fait assez facilement, avec un peu de patience.

Pour ce modèle, vous devrez savoir:

• comment faire une maille en l’air
• comment faire une maille serrée
• comment faire une demi-bride
• comment faire une bride
• comment faire des brides en relief avant et arrière
• comment faire des brides de fondation (technique alternative incluse dans le patron)
• comment travailler en tours
• comment faire une diminution
• comment compléter un changement de couleur (expliqué dans le patron)
• comment faire suivre votre laine
