12 sts and 8 rnds over cable pattern repeat = 4 x 2 cm / 1.5 x 0.75” with 3.5 mm / US 4 needle

26 sts and 42 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” over 1x1 rib pattern in the round with 3 mm / US 2.5 needle.

The hat is knitted from the bottom up in the round using the Long-Tail Cast-On method. 
The top of the hat can be knitted using the Magic Loop method or using DPNs.
