Helmi beanie is worked in the round from the bottom up. The CO instructed in the pattern is Italian CO to create a beautiful round edge. The cable pattern is charted.
Some of the techniques used in the pattern: Italian CO, ktbl, ptbl.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Circumference approx.: 23” / 57 cm slightly stretched.
Total length (with brim folded): 8.8” / 22 cm.
Total length (with brim unfolded): 11.8” / 30 cm.
MATERIALS
2 skeins of Wish by Drops (50% alpaca, 33% cotton, 17% wool;
77 yds / 70 m – 50 g), colorway 08 (grey) / 10 (red).
Or 154 yds / 140 m of super bulky / bulky weight yarn.
If yarn is substituted, I recommend using a similar type of blown yarn to create the soft look. You will need to use the yarn from the swatch to finish the beanie. If you do not want to unravel the swatch, you need an extra skein.
NEEDLES
US 10.75 / 7 mm 16” / 40 cm circular needle
A set of US 10.75 / 7 mm DPNs
Cable needle
Please adjust the needle size if needed for correct gauge.
Note: The designer knits quite loosely. If you knit tightly, you might need to go up 1 or 2 sizes in the needle size.
GAUGE
14 sts x 20 rows = 4” / 10 cm in twisted 1x1 ribbing worked in the round, unblocked. Open the fabric a little bit with your hands on the table and leave it flat without stretching it to measure.
