Hematite
None of us are just one thing or just one way. We are all a mix of walking contradiction of fear and hope, sobriety and ecstasy, cleverness and foolishness, altruism and selfishness, weakness and strength, complication and simplicity, dark and light…
Hematite is associated with bringing calm and balance. This shawl is about the warmth that comes from leaving self-doubt behind and choosing to dance with your inner paradoxes. It’s about finding the inner peace that so often eludes us when we worry about how we come across to others.
This shawl is worked from the tip of one point and increases gradually to form an asymmetric triangle. The meditative garter stitch is interspersed with lace, honouring the parts of us that require a little attention to enjoy, and the two contrasting colours of soft and cosy Adagio Mills 8ply Alpaca yarn are distributed such that whenever you wear this shawl you will have more light on one shoulder and dark on the other. Because we are always both, and that is beautiful.
All instructions are written and charted. A handy tick-sheet showing stitch counts, pattern placement, and colour changes is also provided.
