Stitch gauge given is for the child size. Other gauges are:

Adult small - size 9 (14 st = 4” ss)
Adult med - size 10 (13 st = 4” ss)
Adult lg - size 11 (12 st = 4” ss)

The size is determined by what gauge you choose to knit it at.

This project takes only one skein! Very cool!
