Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec - Arstide Bruant at the Ambassadeurs
From book: Aristide Bruant, with his distinctive hat, scarf, and stick was a satirical cabaret singer. The manager of the Ambassadeurs was outraged at this poster painted in 1892 as he felt the silhouette of the man leaning in the doorway invoked a sleazy atmosphere. Bruant threatened to cancel his appearance unless the poster was used.
The figure appears on the front of the garment. The back and sleeves are plain, just using the background colors of the poster. The cuffs are knitted in a contrasting color to compliment those in the original.
