Héôs is a light and loose cardigan, the little thing you wear without thinking with a boxy shape. Eccentric or simple according to your colors choice, you can wear it with anything. Its construction is peculiar. It is based on a “patchwork”. The squares and rectangles are reunited thanks to pick up stitches and allows the knitter to play with stripes, colors and textures. This is what Héôs is, a fun pattern to knit and to wear.
A few short rows on the collar and voilà, you have a fantastic Héôs !

Material

• Thread : fingering.

The original sample use single (100% mérinos SW, 366 m / 100 g) from Palaluna, colors : ambrume, orange pep’s and fifty shaof grey orangeade.
I advise you to use the same kind of thread for each color so you won’t have problems to pick up the numbers of stitches indicated on each section.

You need at least 3 colors : a main color (black- color block rectangles, sleeves and collar) and two contrasting colors (grey and orange).
MC (black) : 690, 690, 700, 710, 720, 730 m.
CC1 (orange) : 300, 310, 320, 330, 340, 350 m.
CC2 (grey) : 280, 300, 330, 350, 370, 390 m.

If you want to use more or less colors, you will find at the beginning of each section the yardage used per square/rectangle and adapt as you wish.

• Circular needles 3,75mm (or any size to obtain gauge)
• Stitch holders.
• a strap (sewn on fronts)
• a crochet hook 4 mm or a sewing needle to sew back and fronts together.

Sizes :

Sizes available : T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6. Measure are peculiar :

• Advised bust measure 75 >85, 85 > 95, 95 > 105, 105 > 115, 115/125, 125/135cm.
• Hips circumference obtained (see schematic picture, circular arrow): 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180 cm
• Back width (see schematic picture, straight arrow) : 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 cm.

How to take your width back measure ?

Measure from one elbow to the other, arm slightly raised (as if you put your hands on your hips). The sleeve should begin right before your elbow. The more the sleeve is near your elbow (or even after it) the more your movements will be limited by the cardigan). For information, the sample on pictures is a size T4, with a bust measurement at 117 cm and a hips measurement at 122 cm (the sleeve begins after the elbow).

Gauge

24 st x 28 r in stockinette, back and forth, 10 cm width and height, washed, blocked and dry.

It is important to respect the gauge to obtain the right size.

I recommend to use a light thread, slightly transparent (ungauged), with a nice fold of the fabric. Use single threads, or thread with silk or tencel.

• Each technique used in this pattern has a video link. Those videos are in French, but easily understandable just by watching.

• You will find the layout of squares and rectangles at the beginning of the pattern part.

Héôs est un gilet tout léger, aérien, loose, le petit truc qu’on enfile sans réfléchir au corps boxy. Excentrique ou sobre selon les couleurs choisies, il saura accompagner n’importe quel type de tenue. Sa construction est particulière. Elle se base sur un travail de “patchwork”. On assemble via relevages de mailles carrés et rectangles qui jouent avec les rayures et la texture pour lui donner cette identité si particulière. Quelques rangs raccourcis pour former l’encolure et le tour est joué !

Matériel

• Fil : épaisseur fingering.

Le modèle de base est en single (100% mérinos SW, 366 m / 100 g) de Palaluna, coloris ambrume, orange pep’s et fifty shade of grey orangeade .
Je vous conseille vivement d’utiliser la même base pour les trois couleurs afin de ne pas avoir des soucis de ratio au moment de relever des mailles.

Vous aurez besoin de trois couleurs : une couleur principale (noir - les rectangles color block, les manches et les finitions) et deux couleurs contrastantes (gris et orange ici).

CP (noir) : 690 690, 700, 710, 720, 730 m.
CC1 (orange) : 300 310, 320, 330, 340, 350 m.
CC2 (gris) : 280 300, 330, 350, 370, 390 m.

Si vous souhaitez mettre plus ou moins de couleurs, vous trouverez à chaque paragraphe le métrage total utilisé par chaque carré et ainsi l’adapter selon vos envie.

• Aiguilles circulaires 3,75mm (ou toute autre taille vous permettant d’obtenir l’échantillon).
• Des arrêts de mailles.
• Une attache à crochets à coudre sur les devants
• Un crochet 4 mm ou une aiguille à tapisser pour coudre les côtés.

Sizes

Les tailles suivantes sont disponibles : T1,T2, T3, T4, T5, T6. Les mesures références sont particulières :

• tour de poitrine recommandé : 75 >85, 85 > 95, 95 > 105, 105 > 115, 115/125, 125/135cm.
• Circonférence hanches obtenu ( voir schéma, flèche circular) : 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180 cm
• Amplitude dos (voir schéma, flèche droite) : 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 cm.

Comment bien prendre sa mesure amplitude dos ?

Mesurez d’un coude à l’autre, bras légèrement relevés en croix (en mettant les mains sur les hanches par exemple). La manche commence en théorie juste avant le coude, plus la manche sera près du coude, plus vos mouvements seront entravés. Pour information, le modèle présenté est une taille T4 avec un tour de poitrine de 117 cm et un tour de hanches 122 cm (la manche commence après le coude).

Échantillon

24 m x 28 rg en jersey à plat, pour 10 cm , lavé, bloqué et sec.

Il est important de respecter l’échantillon pour obtenir la taille attendue.

Je vous recommande un rendu suffisamment aérien, légèrement transparent (déjaugé), un peu mousseux, pour obtenir un joli drapé. Pour obtenir ce résultat, préférez des fils single, ou bien à base de soie ou de tencel.
