Hephaestion is a simple rib cowl. My “twist” in this design is knitting 2 strands held together, but of course you can just use DK/worsted instead.

Although I have never knitted with strands held together and was afraid to drop stitches all over the place, my fellow knitters encouraged me during the Nimara & Japarta: Knit-A-Thon 2020. I thought - combining the two fingering weight yarns creates my own variegated worsted yarn. Ha. That will be interesting. So, here I come.

The possibilities are endless. You can think of different sets of yarn weight, colors and solid vs. variegated yarns to create your very own. Be careful to choose a needle size, too. It will create a different texture; firm or fluffy.

During the pandemic year 2020, I have read several books about Alexander the Great. Hephaestion is his best friend and most trusted high-ranking officer.

Also check out Ptolemy, a textured cowl pattern.
