In botany, a herbarium (from Latin herbarium) is a collection of plants or plant parts, dried, preserved, identified, and accompanied by critical information such as the identity of the collector, the place and date of collection, and the habitat where they were collected.

Herbarium Socks combine lace panels with a decorative picot bind-off, they are knitted from toe-up using Judy’s Magic Cast On. With this pattern you will learn how to knit a heel with short loops AND a flap.

SIZES AND MEASUREMENTS



Size 1 (64 stitches), size 2 (72 stitches).

Size 1 - 16 cm of circumference.
Size 2 - 18 cm of circumference.

The measurements of the sizes correspond to an unstretched sock.

GAUGE

9 stitches and 13 rows per inch in stockinette stitch using 2.25mm needles.

Gauge is not crucial for this project and can be used to adjust the pattern to your liking.

MATERIALS

• 1 Sock Blanket by Yarnitas (425m/100g 75% SW Merino 25 Nylon), or the equivalent weight of any sock yarn. Color showed is “Dried Flower Bouquet” limited edition for the Sock Club 2023.

• Short circular knitting needles for knitting socks, or double pointed needles size 2.25mm. You can also use a long circular needle and the magic loop method if you prefer.
