Designed in 8 colors of DK Luxe yarn from the incredible Chelsea Yarns, the cowl is an adventure in texture that will keep you engaged. The cowl also makes a great scrappy project, and because it’s all about texture, it works great in 2-3 colors, too. And with the Color Planner section you can see how your colors will look together! Along with your purchase of the pattern, you’ll be invited to the Cast On Party via Zoom on June 17th at 5pm EDT (GMT -4) that includes a tutorial on the gorgeous Latvian Braid edge.
Construction & Features: Worked in the round starting with a Latvian Braid. Simple slipped stitch patterns create a stunning array of colorful textures and geometric motifs. If you can knit and purl you can make this cowl!
From the Designer: Herencia - Spanish for ‘Heritage’ - was inspired by my late Grandmother Maria. Maria loved telling stories about growing up on the island of Puerto Rico. I remember envisioning what the island looked like with its swaying palm trees, crashing ocean waves, and the native fruits and vegetables that grew in the back of her home. Just like the Island’s rich textures, I wanted the Herencia Cowl to be a reflection of my grandmother’s memories. The Herencia Cowl is dedicated to my grandmother Maria who continues to inspire me each and every day.
About the Designer: After going viral for knitting during his daily subway commute from Brooklyn to Manhattan late 2017, Knitwear Designer/Philanthropist Louis Boria aka “Brooklyn Boy Knits”, has turned his passion for fiber arts into a platform where he now works with the community. In 2018, he joined the “Hat Not Hate” anti-bully campaign, to help bring awareness to children across the country. He uses his platform to break down gender norms and tackle issues related to diversity and inclusion within the fiber arts community. He believes that creativity can help heal wounds, both our own and society’s. Be sure to follow Louis @brooklynboyknits!
