Heritage Cable Hat
This pattern is
available for free.
Cable stitches knit in tweed are an ancient combination, and make for a chunky, pleasing end result. For this hat I’ve used Donegal Aran Tweed. This yarn should be hand washed only, and you may be surprised by how much it stretches and ‘settles down’ after you have washed, reshaped and dried, at the end of the making process. So, don’t be alarmed if the garment seems small or tight as you are knitting. So far I’ve made this hat in a deep emerald green (pictured), lavender-purple, and in a neutral undyed yarn, all are beauteous! The pattern is for a stretchy, flexible cap, but I include instructions to enlarge the hat if you think you’ll need it. Enjoy!
