Hermione's Time-Turner Sweater
Hermione’s Time-Turner is one of the most important props in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. To create this artifact, graphic artist Miraphora Mina took inspiration from clocks and watches, as well as astrological instruments such as astrolabes. Her final design featured “a ring within a ring which opened up to allow part of it to spin.” The necklace also features a double catch on the chain that allowed the necklace to be extended around two actors—a necessary feature for the scene when Harry and Hermione go back in time to save Sirius and Buckbeak.
Worked in the round from the top down, this lovely sweater inspired by the Time-Turner uses German short rows to create extra depth in the back of the yoke for a better fit. The beginning of the round is placed on the left front shoulder, with alternate sizes requiring additional yoke charts. The stranded colorwork motif features the Time-Turner on its chain wrapping around the yoke, with decorative colorwork patterning around the bottom of the torso and sleeves. Easy ribbing is worked around the edges and collar.
