The Herringbone Harbor Scarf & Blanket were designed for and featured in Sally Goldenbaum’s upcoming book The Herringbone Harbor Mystery of the Seaside Knitting Mystery series, which will be released in Fall 2024.

The scarf is knit in the round, so it is double thick. In the story, a group of knitters works together to create a blanket, so additional instructions are given to seam multiple scarves together to create a teamwork throw blanket.

Sizes: One Size
Scarf: 8”/20 cm width, 50”/127 cm length.
Blanket: 50”/127 cm width, 64”/163 cm length.

Suggested Yarn: The sample was knit using Kenya’s Knits Marshmallow DK Select in the colorways Rambi (A) and Everstorm (B). This base is 100% Superwash Wool 21.5 MIC.

Yardage:
Color A (Rambi): 413 yds/378 m
Color B (Everstorm): 413 yds/378 m

Gauge: 24 sts x 24 rounds = 4x4”/10x10 cm in pattern, worked in the round and blocked.

Suggested Needles:
US 6/4.0 mm circular needles with a 14”/36cm or smaller cable for working in the round, a longer cable if working in magic loop, or DPNs or needles needed to obtain gauge.

Materials: Stitch markers & tapestry needle.

Techniques: You will need to know how to knit, knit in the round, work stranded colorwork, work Turkish cast on, graft, mattress stitch.
