Gauge
6 sts and 4 rows = 4”/10cm in hhdc worked in the round
8 sts and 5 rows = 4”/10cm in hhdc worked flat
Measurements are taken after blocking. Do not stretch the fabric when checking gauge. Gauge is not essential as a piece that is slightly larger or smaller will still fit nicely, and the pattern can also be easily adjusted in height and circumference. Differences in gauge will change the finished size and will also impact the yardage required.

Yarn, Yardage, and Colors
The sample is shown in super bulky, but the pattern can be done with anything from a fingering to a jumbo yarn. The yardage is completely adjustable as the pattern can be worked to size.

It works best in any yarn that shows off texture and has clear st definition, like a single ply or round 4-ply. Variegated colors will obscure the herringbone texture; the scarf works best in a solid or semi solid color.

Size
Size can be customized by working extra/fewer sts and/or repeats. When worked as stated, the Scarf Worked Flat measures 4”/10cm across and 56”/142cm long. The Infinity Scarf in the Round measures 6”/15cm wide and 53”/135cm around.

herringbone half double crochet, foundation herringbone half double crochet (optional), ch, sl st, counting rows and sts

Construction
The scarves are worked in one piece, switching colors as desired. The Scarf Worked Flat is worked in short flat rows to desired length. You can optionally seam it to form an infinity scarf. The Infinity Scarf in the Round is worked in the round from the bottom up.

Working the piece flat or in the round; adjusting width and length of the scarf; adjusting circumference and height of the infinity scarf; working the infinity scarf as a cowl; customizing color layout

Overview of the Finished Object
The Scarf Worked Flat is a long, skinny scarf. The first two-thirds of the scarf is shown in color A, the last one-third is shown in color B. The Infinity Scarf in the Round is wider and shorter. It features three stripes of color - the bottom and top stripe are color A, the middle stripe is color B.
