Herringbone Linen Tee
The Herringbone pattern is easy to memorize and fun to knit.
The top is knitted from the bottom up in two panels. After seaming the shoulders stitches are picked up and knitted for insertion of sleeves. This type of sleeve is inspired by an old Scandinavian technique used for Nattrøje. The sides are seamed with Back Stitch. Then the cuffs are folded over and stitched down to the front with Whip Stitch. The pattern walks you through all the steps with written row by row instructions.
Knitted in 100% linen which is a plant fiber (Flax). Softens with use over time and is very durable/strong. Excellent for hot and humid climate. Flax requires much less water to grow than cotton.
Currently available in English in Women’s Medium-Large
The fit has positive ease and the knit drapes nicely. Fits below the waist and above the hip. No fitted waist - straight sides. The Length is easily changed by adding or subtracting repeats of the 4 row pattern.
I recommend using BC Garn Lino as it is an excellent Linen Yarn that looks wonderful and has all the properties that are associated with linen. BC Garn was originally started and run as a small family yarn mill in Denmark.
If you choose to substitute the yarn you may end up with an entirely different “animal”.
