Hexagons are the Bestagons
Hexagons really are the bestagons! After years of my kids watching me make baby blankets for other people’s kids, they asked when I would make a blanket for them. With four kids, I started running out of ideas. This creation arose because of my love of math and geometric shapes. The post stitches add interest and weight, resulting in a warm and heavy fabric. This is the blanket everyone fights over.
New rows begin with stacked single crochets for a clean edge that does not require a border.
The sample is huge because my house is filled with tall people, but the pattern contains instructions for creating a gauge swatch to estimate a starting chain length and the necessary quantity of yarn for a blanket of any size with yarn of any weight.
The pattern also includes:
- User-friendly math instructions for all gauge calculations
- Instructions for special stitches
- Photo tutorial of special stitches
- Colorblind-friendly color-coded chart
